Insurance and compensation system

To offer the 100 yen rent-a-car service without any concern, accidents will be covered within the limit of compensation amounts specified as follows. However, it might not be covered if the accident falls in the category of an exemption of the compensation system / you violate the terms and conditions of the insurance and/or rental contract / the amount of compensation is over the limit compensation amount.

If you register at this system, you will be exempted from paying the deductible amounts for property and vehicle compensations.

  • * You can apply for this system only before your departure.
  • * For a rental contract for the period of more than 15 days and up to 1 month, the compensation for the whole rental period will be covered with the amount of the registration fee for 15 days.
  • * This system is not an insurance.
  • * This system is applied with the use of seat belts.
  • * In the case of self-inflicted accidents, the compensation for vehicle deduction does not apply.
    Definition for self-inflicted accident;
    (Examples) Vehicle accidents without any property loss (including collisions to telephone poles and guardrails), fall or rollover accidents, and accidents where the other party cannot be identified, including hit-and-run and vehicle theft.
  • * The disclaimer compensation system does not apply to the following cases; at least one of the drivers is less than 21 years old, obtained a driver license less than 1 year ago, or has a history of accidents and therefore the driver is considered disqualified for the disclaimer compensation system by us.

The cases where the disclaimer compensation system does not apply

For the following cases, you will have to bear the losses that are not covered by the insurance and compensation system, or the amount exceeding the limit of the compensation amount.

  • ■When proper procedures are not taken for the accident, including contacting the police and us
  • ■When there is any violation against the rental contract
    • Losses are caused due to illegal parking
    • Drunk-driving and driving under the influence of alcohol
    • Use of drugs
    • Extension of the rental period without notice
    • The vehicle is driven by those who are not listed on the contract
    • Sublease
    • Unlicensed driving (including license suspension periods and violations with the car types you can drive)
    • Private settlements are done without notice
    • The vehicle is used for any test or competition, or to tract or push other vehicles
    • Any other accidents corresponding to the exemptions specified in the rental contract
  • ■When corresponding to the exemptions specified in the terms and conditions of the damage insurance we contract with
    • Intentional accidents
    • Flat tires or damages on tires
    • Loss or damages of wheel caps
    • Loss of keys
    • The cost for an urgent repair kit for puncture
    • Damages to the properties owned, used, or managed by you
  • ■Due to misuses or administrative faults
    • Thefts caused as the vehicle was parked with the key on or unlocked
    • Repair costs for damages or corrosion on the car body, etc, due to poor usage of the vehicle
    • Stains on the equipment in the car
    • Loss of the equipment
    • Damages on tire chains, carriers, or child seats due to wrong installation or equipment deficiencies
    • Damages on the vehicle due to driving off of the roadway including the seashore, river bed, and forest (accidents caused outside of roadways that are properly maintained and managed)
    • Repair costs due to wrong fuels filled in the tank of the vehicle
    • Damages caused by being operated by those who do not have a license of a crane or any other high lift work vehicles
  • ■Seat belts are not used during driving
  • ■Damages due to accidents or malfunction that happened after the period of rental contract is extended without notice
  • ■Damages on the vehicle or equipment (including options) by the theft of the vehicle
  • ■Accidents due to battery troubles including dead batteries
  • ■Damages on the window glasses due to flying stones or other flying objects
  • ■Damages on the vehicle that is not checked before departure
  • ■The cost for the damages exceeding the limit of the compensation amount, or for the damages with that the compensation system is not applied

About the compensation for absence from use (operation charge)

If there should be an accident, theft, malfunction, stain, damage on the equipment in the vehicle, burn mark on the seat, and if we are not responsible for them and repair or cleaning of the vehicle is needed, we will charge you the following amounts as a part of the compensation for absence from use.
If the vehicle can be driven: 20,000 JPY
If the vehicle cannot be driven: 50,000 JPY
*If the vehicle cannot be driven, we will also charge you a towing cost (to the repair shop designated by us).
